A/Prof Carmel Crock OAM
ANZA-SIDM Chair & Conference Convenor
In 2020 we formed the Australian and New Zealand Affiliate of the Society to Improve Diagnosis in Medicine (ANZA-SIDM) and renamed our conference the Improving Diagnosis Conference, reflecting our mission to reduce diagnostic error and to learn from and promote accurate and timely diagnosis.
The theme of our upcoming conference is “Embracing challenges and change”. The pandemic has brought immense challenges to our society, including in providing healthcare. The inherent complexity of and uncertainty involved in the diagnostic process have been laid bare.
In this conference, some of Australia and New Zealand’s key thinkers and researchers will share their insights into improving diagnosis. The conference will foster lively debate, with panel discussions, workshops, and presentations of the latest research in the field of diagnostic quality and safety. Alongside the latest research, there will be a focus on education and clinical reasoning, practice improvements, and communication and culture to improve diagnosis.
We look forward to welcoming you to ANZA-SIDM 2022.
