Chief Science & Medical Officer
Chief Science & Medical Officer, As a member of SIDM’s senior leadership team, the CSMO will have primary responsibility for recruitment, supervision and mentoring of SIDM advocacy, and scientific, and development staff; for developing, promoting, and implementing SIDM’s Research Agenda; for ensuring organizational learning from SIDM’s funded Clinical, Educational and Research Program; and for refining the scientific and research agenda over time in response to input from patients and other stakeholders to findings from SIDM-funded research, and to broader emerging issues in clinical decision-making. The CSMO will also participate in studying and evaluating SIDM’s own processes for engaging patients and other stakeholders in the clinical and scientific enterprise.
Vice President, Policy & Advocacy
Vice President, Policy & Advocacy (VP/PA). reporting to the Chief Science and Medical Officer (CSMO), the VP/PA will have responsibility for developing and driving SIDM’s public policy strategy and agenda to improve diagnostic safety and quality, reduce harms from diagnostic error, and improve equity in medical diagnosis. Working in consultation with senior staff, including the Chief Executive Officer, and broad expert and stakeholder communities, the VP/PA will develop and execute a policy “road map” for both SIDM governance and funders; apprise leadership of emerging opportunities and threats to the organization’s objectives in the health care policy ecosystem; prioritize and develop evidence-based policy positions and statements (legislative, regulatory, general); interact with policymakers and influencers to effect policy change, and implement advocacy strategies and campaigns to achieve public policies that will improve diagnostic safety, quality, and equity.
