Researchers Explore How the Surge in Telemedicine Might Impact Diagnosis

Not enough has been done to understand the accuracy or efficacy of diagnoses delivered by telemedicine according to a new issue brief from the Society to Improve Diagnosis in Medicine (SIDM). The TeleDx project, a literature review and series of interviews, found that health systems surveyed patient satisfaction with telemedicine but did not measure the accuracy of diagnosis presented via telemedicine.

16 Organizations Awarded Grants to Test Innovations that Improve Diagnosis and Reduce Disparities

The Society to Improve Diagnosis in Medicine (SIDM) is issuing the second grant round, totaling $3 million over three years, as part of the organization’s DxQI Seed Grant Program. Sixteen organizations will receive awards up to $50,000 to test interventions to improve the quality, accuracy, and timeliness of diagnoses.

2021-2022 Fellows in Diagnostic Excellence Announced

The Society to Improve Diagnosis in Medicine (SIDM) has released a new online toolkit to support diagnostic quality and safety researchers in developing patient-centered comparative effectiveness research (CER) and an interactive Diagnostic Process Map to support education about the diagnostic process as conceptualized by the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (National Academies) in a consensus report, Improving Diagnosis in Health Care.
