As an organization, SIDM has intensified its commitment to serving the patient by achieving excellence in diagnosis. Our theme for the SIDM2023 Utrecht conference, the Future of Diagnosis: Navigating Uncertainty, brought together thought leaders working to eliminate harm from diagnostic error through education, research, practice improvement, and patient engagement.

We welcomed diverse, dynamic, and leading voices during our plenary sessions. We also hosted lively panel discussions, oral presentations, workshops, clinical reasoning on stage, and plenty of time for networking with colleagues.

SIDM’s mission is important to every one of us, because at the end of the day, we are all patients and have family members who are patients. This year’s European conference looked carefully at the subtleties that drive us to continue to improve and excel at the art and science of diagnosis so that we can one day realize a world where no patient is harmed from diagnostic error.
