We Are Changing Our Annual Membership Dates and Fees
Effective July 1, 2018, SIDM will increase its minimum annual commitment for membership and will change its membership year from an individualized membership anniversary method to a common anniversary for everyone.
What is the new minimum annual commitment for Membership?
Beginning July 1, 2018, a basic professional membership will be $150/year.
Medical Student/Resident and Patient/Family membership will be $75/year.
Why are we increasing the minimum annual Membership commitment?
SIDM continues to expand its services and its efforts directed to improving diagnostic quality. These additional funds will support the innovative work that SIDM is doing to improve the diagnostic process and allow us to continue to provide free access to resources such as our peer-reviewed journal DIAGNOSIS, our newsletter ImproveDx, and DEM conference presentations.
What will the renewal cycle look like moving forward? How will it be implemented?
We are shifting from an anniversary to an annual membership renewal where all memberships will expire on 6/30/2019. The new membership cycle will begin July 1. We are currently offering some pre-July options for individuals who want to renew before the fee increase takes place:
- If you have recently renewed, thank you! Upon your next renewal you will be provided a pro-rated price through 6/30/2019.
- Members renewing or new members joining between now and June 30th, 2018 may join at current pricing ($50/$100), automatically extending their membership through June 2019.
- New Members joining or current members renewing after June 30, 2018 will pay $150 for professional members and $75 for Student/Resident or Patient/Family (prorated quarterly for those joining after September 30th).
- Remember, SIDM is a 501(c)3 charitable organization. Your membership is tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.
Why change billing cycles?
Currently, membership renewal dates are spread throughout the year requiring reminders based on individual sign-up dates. Many of our community have found their membership unintentionally and unknowingly expire. Fixing this problem with our limited IT infrastructure and administrative support has been challenging. The new process will move everyone to a July 1 renewal date, creating efficiencies in our system, and hopefully ending the problem of unintended expirations.
How will donations that are separate from membership renewals be handled?
In addition to membership, we welcome general and targeted donations to support our important work throughout the year. Specifically, we will reach out to the community in November-December for a special end of year appeal. These donations do not affect membership status.
